I seriously was just having this conversation with a single friend the other day.

One of the best pieces of advice a friend ever gave me was that you don’t have to stay friends with someone after you break up with them. Chances are, your only interactions with them before your relationship were when at least one of you was interested in the other one and wanted to be “more than friends”.

If you didn’t have a true friendship before your relationship, how are you supposed to have one afterwards?
